The Musée Gassendi is both the point of departure and arrival.
The Musée Gassendi houses River of Earth, the first Refuge to have been created by Andy Goldsworthy, in 1999. The visit continues with a room given over to the archives of the Refuge d'Art project since the first joint operations between the museum and the artist. Besides Goldsworthy's preparatory drawings, the correspondence, and photos of the restoration work on the Refuges, there are images of the Digne Cairn. This ephemeral sculpture, created in 1995, was at the origin of the close bond that grew up between Goldsworthy and the territory of Digne.
